Lakewood police have found a “vehicle of interest” connected with Tuesday night’s fatal shooting in the 1800 block of Kendall Street.

Police announced late Wednesday night that they found a 2004 Chevy Blazer, license plate number 261RYN, abandoned in the 3500 block of Jay Street.

Lakewood police had sent out descriptions of two “vehicles of interest” because witnesses gave them descriptions of similarly colored cars, with different license plates, seen leaving the apartment building where a man was shot and killed Tuesday.

Lakewood police announced Wednesday that they are no longer looking for a second car.

They are, however, looking for three men in their 20s who were seen near the apartment building at the time of the shooting.

Police reported to the apartment complex shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday and found a man with a gunshot wound inside a third-story apartment. Medics transported the man to St. Anthony Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers did not know Tuesday night whether the victim lived in the apartment building where he was killed.

They were still waiting this afternoon to release his identity pending notification of family.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the department at 303-987-7111.
