LOVELAND, Colo.—Officials at the Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport say they will cancel a crucial runway rebuilding project unless Congress approves funding by next week.

Officials say that could cause intermittent shutdowns of the airport throughout the coming year for emergency repairs.

The $7 million project is tied to the current budget impasse in Congress.

Airport director Jason Licon told the Loveland Reporter Herald that the impasse could lead to runway closures this winter. He says this could cause some very significant problems.
