WHEAT RIDGE, Colo.—Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge is blaming the recession for laying off 160 workers.
Hospital spokeswoman Mo Sheahan says a third of the layoffs will come from management and nonclinical positions.
Lutheran president Grant Wicklund tells the Denver Post the hospital is dealing with fewer patient admissions, increases in the number of uninsured and underinsured patients, and rising costs.
