A 47-year-old Arkansas woman suffered only minor to moderate injuries after falling “head over heels” more than 30 feet during a climb on the Boulder Flatirons this afternoon.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Department said Julie Tolleson of Fayetteville, Ark., slipped and fell on a climbing route on the third Flatiron at about 1:30 p.m.
Her climbing partner did not see her fall, but heard her yell. then saw her tumbling down, the Sheriff’s Department said in a media release.
A city of Boulder park ranger and members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group located and evacuated Tolleson to a trailhead, where she was taken to Boulder Community Hospital for treatment.
A hospital spokeswoman was not available to comment on Tolleson’s condition this evening.
Records show Tolleson is a deputy public defender in the Washington County, Ark., Public Defender’s Office in Fayetteville.
