LITTLETON, Colo.—Chatfield State Park’s swim beach is temporarily closed after routine water-quality tests showed high levels of E. coli.

Park officials said Wednesday the high levels may be due to recent heavy rains and high temperatures.

The beach also closed three times last month for the same reason. The closures July 7, July 20 and July 27 came after heavy rains washed over fields, lawns, streets, sidewalks and businesses and drained into Chatfield.

Chatfield officials say the beach will reopen once bacteria levels are back within standards set by the state health department.
