John Giovando, the founding executive director of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, announced today that he will retire at end of the classical series’ 2012 summer season.
Under Giovando’s leadership, Bravo! has grown from a handful of concerts drawing several hundred people to a multifaceted 5-1/2-week event with an attendance of more than 60,000.
The festival’s 24th season, which ended Wednesday, featured residencies by the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra and Dallas Symphony, as well as a range of chamber music, family concerts and other events.
