PUEBLO, Colo.—Four employees of the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo are on leave while authorities investigate how a patient got a broken arm.
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office is trying to determine how 38-year-old Shawn Whittaker got injured while being restrained.
According to the Pueblo Chieftain ( ), interim superintendent Teresa Bernal said Whittaker’s medical condition was monitored throughout the night of the incident and more treatment was sought when he continued to complain of pain.
