Boulder police arrested a man on suspicion of first-degree assault after his friend said the man beat him up for not finding his lost hat late Monday night.
Bradley McChesney, 42, was walking with a friend along a bike path near Broadway and Canyon Boulevard at around 10:30 p.m., according to a police report. The friend told police that McChesney became angry when he could not find his hat, and asked the friend to find it.
When he was unable to find the hat, the friend said that McChesney kicked the back of his knee, causing him to fall down. The victim said McChesney then proceeded to punch and kick him while he was on the ground.
Officers reported that the victim had several abrasions as well as a swollen eye.
