DENVER—Denver prosecutors have filed criminal charges against two women after a baby’s death.
Ten-month-old Adam Gonzales was found dead in his home Aug. 5. Prosecutors allege he died after 23-year-old Frances Garcia wrapped him in a blanket, placed him in a closet with a propped up bottle, and covered his face with a blanket to muffle his crying during the night. The baby’s mother, 24-year-old mother, Amanda Lujan, is accused of lying about what happened.
Prosecutors said Thursday that Garcia is charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death. Lujan is charged with being an accessory to both charges.
Garcia is being held without bond. Lujan is free on a $5,000 bond. She has an unlisted phone number and couldn’t be reached for comment.
