Shammi Kapoor, a versatile Indian actor hailed for his lighthearted roles in movies, has died after a long career in Bollywood. He was 79.
His doctor says Kapoor was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital two days earlier in critical condition. He was on dialysis and died Sunday of kidney failure.
Kapoor’s brothers, Raj Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, also were successful actors, and his father, Prithviraj Kapoor, was a well-known theater personality of the 1950s.
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Jesus del Pozo, a fashion designer who was one of Spain’s most influential style modernizers, has died at 65.
A statement released late Saturday by Spain’s Fashion Creators Association said Del Pozo had succumbed to a lung problem. Association president Modesto Lomba said Del Pozo had worked with commitment and energy to the end.
Del Pozo opened his first outlet in Madrid in 1974. His first collection was unveiled in 1976.
