Doherty High School will host a benefit 5K run and charity walk to honor the memory of Laurel, Hannah, Zoe, and Lucia Constantinides, who died after their vehicle plunged off a washed out highway in Wyoming into a rain-swollen creek.

Dr. Alex Constantinides, the only surviving member of the family, works closely with the Doherty athletics department helping rehabilitate injured high school athletes. He was camping with his wife, Laurel, 38, and their three daughters, Hannah, 8, Zoe, 5, and Lucia, 2, July 20 when torrential rains forced them to evacuate their campground. Hannah was a student at Taylor Elementary School.

The event is open to the public and begins at 9:00 a.m., Aug. 27 in the southeast parking lot of Doherty High School, 4515 Barnes Road. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Entry donation is $20 and will benefit the Half the Sky Foundation, a charity that aids children in Chinese orphanages.
