DURANGO, Colo.—A former senior executive vice president of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche is set to become the new athletics director for Fort Lewis College.
College President Dene Kay Thomas said Monday that Gary Hunter would officially become athletics director on Sept. 1.
Hunter has been a consultant to the Skyhawks athletic department for several weeks. He previously was athletic director at Wichita State and Idaho and was an associate director of athletics Kansas. Hunter has been a commissioner of the Continental Basketball Association and chief executive officer of the CBA’s Idaho Stampede.
He also owns Hunter Management Group, which provides business and legal consulting services, primarily within the sports and entertainment industry.
