DENVER—Former GOP gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes is blaming part of his loss last year on tea party groups.
Nearly a year after his loss to Democrat John Hickenlooper, Maes says the tea party “was looking for Jesus Christ” and he’s not perfect.
According to the Durango Herald ( ), Maes wrote in a book he published this summer called “Running Without Cowboy Boots” that tea party supporters nitpicked anything they could and helped derail his campaign.
