The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed his 64-year-old roommate with a kitchen knife.

Steven Attar, 45, was supposed to move out of the home on 6982 South Knolls Way Sunday night when a struggle broke out and he allegedly stabbed his roommate several times and then fled, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies searched the area around the home and arrested Attar shortly after they arrived. They collected a bloody kitchen knife found in the home as evidence.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Attar also faces charges of first-degree assault and crimes against an at-risk adult.

He was being held Monday morning in the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detentions Facility on $50,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office said the victim, whose name has not been released, was in the hospital Monday morning recovering from what deputies thought were non life-threatening injuries.
