I remember speaking with frontman Josh Grier in June of 2006, just as his band was breaking out and signing to XL. (They were headlining the Larimer Lounge later that week in Denver.) He was excited, and his giddiness was warranted. The band looked like they were breaking wide open, though like many blog buzzbands, Tapes ‘n Tapes has had a solid career in rocks clubs since its debut, never quite reaching that Vampire Weekend-level mania.

I first fell in love with his band via “Omaha,” an understated song I still listen to regularly. Check it out, and also register for tickets to tonight’s Tapes ‘n Tapes show at the , with Denver ex-pats Chain Gang of 1974 opening.
