In his three-plus seasons with the Dodgers, Hiroki Kuroda had beaten every National League team except two — the Rockies and Cardinals. The list dwindled to one Friday night when Kuroda beat the Rockies at Coors Field. He went into the game 0-5 with a 5.81 ERA in nine starts vs. the Rox.

For the record, that wasn’t exactly the Boys of Summer the Dodgers marched out there. To wit: Each of their first three hitters — Tony Gwynn, Justin Sellers and Aaron Miles — went into the game with one home run. Make it two for Gwynn, who went deep off Edgmer Escalona in the fourth.
