MONTROSE, Colo.—A highway flag crew in Montrose says it’s tired of being abused by motorists.
Crew members say they have been taunted with curse words, inappropriate gestures, spit on, and even assaulted.
Flagger Tom Helmbrecht tells KREX-TV ( ) that motorists disobey signs, move barriers, and disrespect flaggers.
Crew boss Betti Lewis says she’s been reporting unruly motorists to authorities, and a number of times the Colorado State Patrol has tracked them down and cited them.
