BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Another coyote attack on a small child has been reported in Broomfield.
Police say a coyote bit a 6-year-old boy walking on a trail with his father and younger sister last week, leaving scrapes and small puncture wounds on his buttocks.
A similar incident happened to a 2 1/2-year-old boy July 18. The Boulder Daily Camera reports () wildlife officials later killed a coyote believed to be responsible for the attack.
Wildlife department spokeswoman Jennifer Churchill says officials will kill the animal behind the latest attack if it is found. She says coyote populations are too high to relocate problem coyotes.
She says Denver-area residents can haze coyotes with noise or by throwing small rocks or sticks in their direction so the animals don’t learn to be comfortable around humans.
