Denver, it’s important to know your musical heritage. Which is why you’re already planning on going to this weekend’s Christie Front Drive reunion show at the Larimer Lounge, right?

Seriously, though, CFD was a cornerstone of the Denver scene in the mid-’90s, and they also helped put the city’s indie community on the map by touring and getting the word out. What’s especially exciting about Sunday’s reunion show is how well the band’s music still stands today. A lot of what we used to call “emo” doesn’t hold up very well anymore, but CFD’s catalog has no problems sounding current — immediate, even.

There are plenty of CFD stories out there worth knowing — including the split seven-inch they released with a young Jimmy Eat World — but more important is seeing CFD live. And we’re giving away some tickets for Sunday’s action right here.

Sunday’s concert at the Larimer Lounge is a barbecue show, so it’s nice and early, with CFD hitting the stage at 7 p.m. Other bands on the bill: All Capitals, Glass Hits, Popwreck and others.
