The man who shot and killed a pit bull after it attacked his dog will not be charged, police said today.
On Aug. 29, a pit bull named Deuce was shot and killed after he escaped from his yard, jumped a fence and attacked the 6-year-old shepherd mix named Chief in the 3000 block of High Drive, according to a news release from the Evans Police Department.
The owner, whose name has not been released, shot and killed Deuce after his attempts to pull him off Chief were unsuccessful.
Deuce’s owner, Robert Delarosa, 34, was cited on a municipal charge of unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog.
Deuce has been cited in attacks on two other dogs.
On Aug. 5, Deuce escaped his yard and mauled a young beagle, police said. On Aug. 9, Deuce attacked a 12-year-old dog on a walk with its owner.
Delarosa was cited on July 22 with having a loose dog with no license when Deuce and another pit bull were running loose in the neighborhood.
