Can’t Hardly Wait: Free tickets to Band of Horses at the Ogden Theatre, and a toast to … Ford?

It’s rare that an automobile manufacturer uses a song to its full potential, but a few years ago, Ford edited best-known song, “The Funeral,” into a comparatively potent commercial.

Is it artful? Nah, but it did distill some of the song’s best atmopsherics into a 30-second clip — and it introduced a whole horde of fans to a band they clearly needed to know about.

Tonight was the night some of those Colorado fans were supposed to see Band of Horses at Red Rocks, but . But Band of Horses trekked on and booked its own tour, and now it will stop at the Ogden Theatre on Sunday — and we’re giving away some tickets to the action. Right here:

To the haters who still don’t understand Band of Horses’ third (and most recent) record, “Infinite Arms,” give it another chance. It’s a stylistic turn from “Everything All the Time” and “Cease to Begin,” yes, but like those first two full-lengths, it’s a stunning record that deserves more attention.

Band of Horses will play the Ogden Theatre at 8 p.m. Sunday with Tyler Ramsey opening. Tickets, $35, are available via Ticketmaster.
