Boulder’s city manager is proposing a $239 million budget for 2012 that would include more than a quarter-million dollars for continued research into the city’s energy future should a ballot proposal for a municipal utility fail in November.
City Manager Jane Brautigam released a draft of the proposal Thursday afternoon.
The recommended budget would be a 3.4 percent increase from 2011 overall. Brautigam wrote that she expects $232 million in revenue, which would be a 3 percent increase from last year.
In a letter, Brautigam said the city is taking a “conservative and strategic approach” to the budget while taking into account the nation’s financial woes.
“Although Boulder is in better financial condition than many of its peer cities, the national economic outlook remains uncertain,” she wrote.
