Rockies outfielder Ryan Spilborghs knew he was hurt. But he could still play through the plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Problem was he couldn’t perform, unable to place weight on his back foot in his swing. In his first start since Aug. 5, following a Triple-A rehab assignment, Spilborghs knocked in his first run since July 31.

Manager Jim Tracy said removing Rafael Betancourt from the closer role at this point “would be asinine.” Betancourt has made a seamless transition, leaving veteran Huston Street in a setup role.
