Three suspected gang members who fell asleep in a vehicle with drugs and a stolen gun in the trunk received a rude awakening from Colorado Springs police early Monday morning.
It started when a police officer patrolling Cottonwood Creek Park came upon a suspicious vehicle about 5 a.m. and approached the occupants to find out why they were in the park after hours.
All six occupants – three men described by police as “confirmed gang members” and three underage females who had previously been drinking alcohol – were asleep, police said.
After initiating an investigation, police found 265 grams of marijuana and a stolen gun in the trunk of the vehicle.
The three men – Rayshawn Laster, Zhakary Laster and Seth Harvey – were arrested on suspicion of drug and weapons charges and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.
