CASPER, Wyo.—A Colorado man who took an aerial photo of the iconic Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park will have his image immortalized on a postage stamp.

Jim Wark of Pueblo says every time he is near the park, he can’t resist taking a photo of the geothermal feature, in part because of vibrant colors caused by microorganisms along the edges of the pool.

The Earthscapes stamp series, set for release in 2012, features 15 images of urban, agriculture and natural scenes captured either from an airplane or a satellite. Of the 15 pictures chosen, five were taken by Wark, an 80-year-old retired geologist and mining engineer.

The Casper Star-Tribune ( ) reports the others by Wark include photos of a skyscraper, a barge, a butte and railroad cars.
