GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The Bureau of Land Management is launching an environmental analysis of Encana Corp.’s plan for two, 31-mile pipelines crossing private and public land in western Colorado.

The agency said Monday the pipelines would begin near Kimball Mountain northwest of DeBeque and end near Colorado Highway 139, about 25 miles south of Rangely. About 75 percent of the proposed route would follow an existing pipeline corridor.

The agency says Encana wants to build a 24-inch pipeline to boost its capacity for transporting natural gas liquids and an adjacent 12-inch pipeline to transport water and condensate. Encana aims to start building next year.

The BLM is inviting the public to comment before Oct. 11 as it begins its environmental analysis. The public gets another chance to comment once the analysis is drafted.
