AURORA, Colo.—An Aurora police officer has resigned over accusations he sexually exploited a 15-year-old runaway.
Police Chief Daniel Oates said the officer turned in his resignation on Monday.
Officer Michael Mangino (Man-GENE’-oh) was arrested in March on suspicion of two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and other charges.
Authorities say the 29-year veteran is accused of a single incident involving the arrest of the 15-year-old girl.
Mangino is a former DARE officer who worked in several elementary schools.
