An El Paso County Sheriff’s deputy was hit by a car after he went to a Colorado Springs motel to serve an arrest warrant tonight.

The deputy received minor injuries after he approached a car in the parking lot of the Chief Motel at 624 South Nevada Ave. at about 7:30 p.m., the Colorado Springs Gazette reported tonight.

A spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department did not return phone calls.

Local TV stations at the scene said the car ran over the deputy’s foot.

A deputy fired at the car, but the Gazette reported that no one had gone to local hospitals with a gunshot wound.

It was not clear whether the injured deputy fired the shot or if the person driving the car was involved in the case the officer was working on.
