BOULDER, Colo.—Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens will be at the University of Colorado this week to inaugurate a new series of lectures named for him.
Stevens is set to talk about constitutional law and the Supreme Court Thursday at 5 p.m. at CU’s law school. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Stevens stepped down from the court last year after 35 years. Although appointed by a Republican, President Ford, he was widely regarded as the court’s most liberal member by the time of his retirement.
He has been writing a memoir about his time on the court. It’s due out the first Monday in October, when the Supreme Court traditionally begins a new term.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg will deliver the second Stevens Lecture in 2012.
