DENVER—A woman who pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide has been sentenced to 12-years in prison for the death of a valet outside a nightclub.

Denver District Attorney spokeswoman Lynn Kimbbrough says a judge handed down the sentence Monday for Norma Vera-Nolasco. Authorities say Vera-Nolasco was driving a truck that struck and killed 21-year-old Jose Medina south of downtown in January.

She was one of four charged in Medina’s death.

A judge in July sentenced truck owner Eliu Montes-Garcia to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty to helping hide the vehicle.

Two others pleaded guilty to aiding her escape. Authorities have said all four are in the country illegally.

Authorities arrested Vera-Nolasco in Phoenix after a Mexico-bound plane she was on was called back to the gate.
