Getting your player ready...

Each Tuesday, after all the week’s games are played, Broncos/NFL reporter Mike Klis will rank the league’s quarterbacks. Warning: The rankings will weigh “what have you done for me lately” as much as what the quarterback has accomplished overall.

WEEK 2 RANKINGS:

Rank. Quarterback, team. (Previous)
1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers (1)
Down 13-0 on the road, defending champ led comeback by completing passes to nine receivers.

2. Tom Brady, Patriots (2)
On pace to break Marino’s record by 2,500 yards.

3. Drew Brees, Saints (8)
Six TDs, 0 picks, 344.5 yards per game.

4. Matthew Stafford, Lions (11)
Tied with Brady and Fitzpatrick with 7 TD passes.

5. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bills (6)
Led remarkable comeback from 21-3 halftime deficit against Raiders.

6. Cam Newton, Panthers (4)
He is an entertainer and an icon. Followed record-setting debut with a 400-yard encore. His 4 picks explain why he’s 0-2 with mediocre rating.

7. Matt Schaub, Texans (13)
Moved to 2-0 with impressive win at Miami.

8. Tony Romo, Cowboys (32)
Came back from Week 1 meltdown, battered ribs, punctured lung and 14-0 deficit to lead big win on road.

9. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers (17)
Classic performance in building 24-0 lead against Seattle, then sitting on it.

10. Kevin Kolb, Cardinals (5)
Lost a tough one in Washington D.C. but continues to play up to expectations that came with his trade.

11. Rex Grossman, Redskins (14)
On do-or-die drive in final minutes, he did.

12. Mark Sanchez, Jets (12)
Threw two picks but can’t dock a guy for winning 32-3.

13. Joe Flacco, Ravens (3)
Everybody had him winning the Super Bowl after Week 1. Titans slammed his brakes in Week 2.

14. Michael Vick, Eagles (7)
He was spectacular at times against former team, but his three turnovers cost his team. Should not play this week because of concussion.

15. Philip Rivers, Chargers (10)
Has been uncharacteristically careless in two games, throwing a pick to a defensive lineman in each game.

16. Matt Ryan, Falcons (18)
The pressure was more on him with Vick returning to Georgia Dome and he delivered with 4 TD passes.

17. Josh Freeman, Bucs (21)
Rallied team from 17-0 deficit on the road? Very impressive.

18. Kyle Orton, Broncos (20)
Deserved to move up after engineering win with only two receivers and after fans increased call for his ouster.

19. Matt Hasselbeck, Titans (24)
Anyone who throws for 358 against the Ravens’ D is a long way from washed up.

20. Andy Dalton, Bengals (25)
What happened to spread offense QBs struggling to adjust to NFL? I love this kid. Threw for 322 yards and 2 TDs at Mile High.

21. Eli Manning, Giants (22)
One of the league’s smartest quarterbacks. If he only he executed a little better.

22. Jay Cutler, Bears (9)
He’s taken 11 sacks in two games. Completed just 44 percent of his passes against suspect Saints defense.

23. Sam Bradford, Rams (23)
The passing times: 331 yards passing on just 47.8 percent completion against Giants.

24. Jason Campbell, Raiders (27)
Was superb and clutch in Buffalo. Should have been hero but Raiders’ defense has holes after front four.

25. Alex Smith, 49ers (19)
His only interception of season set up seven points and took many key sacks in heartbreaking loss to Cowboys.

26. Colt McCoy, Browns (28)
Even if the Colts are way down, it’s still difficult for a young quarterback to win in the Indy dome.

27. Chad Henne, Dolphins (15)
In a must win game, went just 12 of 30 against Texans’ defense. Now 0-2 at home.

28. Donovan McNabb, Vikings (33)
Much improved from Week 1 debacle by steering 17-0 halftime lead against Tampa Bay. But he helped blow that lead.

29. Kerry Collins, Colts (31)
The Phil Bengtson of quarterbacks. Even if he plays given his circumstances, he’s still way short of a legend.

30. Tarvaris Jackson, Seahawks (29)
How does an offense get shut out with the league’s offensive-favorable rules?

31. Matt Cassel, Chiefs (30)
He can’t even get the garbage yards in back-to-back blowout losses.

32. Luke McCown, Jaguars (16)
Benched after horrible 4 interception performance against Jets.
