GREELEY — Almost one in three.
That’s how many children in Greeley live in poverty, according to data released in today’s U.S. Census Bureau’s 2010 American Community Survey.
The survey, with analysis provided by the Rocky Mountain Investigative News Network, shows that Greeley has the highest level of children living in poverty — 31.3 percent — of Colorado’s largest cities, not including Denver, which wasn’t among the cities sampled in the analysis. Greeley’s percentage is down from 2009, when it hit a high of 36.1 percent, but it reflects the city’s persistent battle with poverty.
