Fire engine damaged, one person taken to the hospital after collision in Aurora

One person was taken to the hospital this morning after a fire engine responding to an emergency call and a vehicle collided in a southwest Aurora intersection.

Shortly before 11 a.m., Aurora Fire Engine 4 was traveling with its sirens blaring and lights flashing near East Mississippi Avenue and South Moline Street, said Capt. Allen Robnett, spokesman for the Aurora Fire Department.

The fire engine and a vehicle collided in the intersection. Details about the accident were not immediately available.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital. No firefighters were injured.

The fire engine was damaged. A reserve engine had to take its place.
