Keith Humerickhouse of Gypsum Creek Golf Course birdied the final hole Sunday to win his second consecutive Colorado Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championship at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott.

Humerickhouse, 35, became the fourth player to capture the CGA Mid-Amateur title more than once, joining seven-time champion Rick DeWitt and two-time winners Steve Irwin and Rick Garber.

Boulderite wins L.A. Triathlon.

Cameron Dye of Boulder won his first Los Angeles Triathlon, beating three-time winner and favorite Greg Bennett.

Dye, who was sixth last year and 11th in 2008, finished in 1 hour, 46 minutes, 34 seconds — 45 seconds faster than Bennett’s 1:47.19.

DU women’s soccer team extends win streak.

The University of Denver women’s soccer team stretched its Sun Belt Conference regular-season match winning streak to 16, shutting out visiting Western Kentucky 2-0.

• The University of Denver men’s soccer team captured its first road win of the season, 3-1 over Cal Poly.

Metro State notches second win over top-25 team.

Metro State’s Marc Herschberger scored in the first overtime as the host Roadrunners upset No. 11 Colorado Mines 2-1 in men’s soccer. It was the second win over a top-25 team in the past week for the Roadrunners.
