Matt Duchene still is looking for his first goal of the preseason for the Avalanche. But the third-year Avs center certainly isn’t worried about it.

“I’m really happy with my game right now. I feel like I’m in midseason form already,” Duchene said this morning, as the Avs prepared to take on the Los Angeles Kings tonight at the Pepsi Center in their fourth preseason game. “That’s something I’ve never really felt, especially last year. I felt I didn’t have a very good preseason last year. But I’m trying to remove the word preseason from my vocabulary, and just look at it like the regular season has started already.”

Duchene, who has one assist in two games, will play for the Avs against the Kings tonight in Colorado’s bid to even their preseason record at 2-2.

Goalie Semyon Varlamov will start for the Avs and is slated to play the whole game. Also in the Avs lineup will be rookies such as Gabriel Landeskog, Stefan Elliott and Tyson Barrie.

Jonathan Quick will start in goal for the Kings. Other stars expected to play for Los Angeles are Anze Kopitar and Simon Gagne.
