Denver police are looking for a police impersonator who is accused of sexual assault.

In a Crime Stoppers alert issued Thursday, police said a woman was waiting for a bus near West 32nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard on Sept. 28 when a dark blue Mercedes sedan with tinted windows pulled up. The male driver rolled down the passenger window and told the woman he was a police officer and ordered her to get in the car.

The woman told police the man made a motion as if to produce a weapon, but she did not see a gun.

The woman said she was taken to an isolated area near West 45th Avenue and Irving Street and sexually assaulted. The victim was able to escape and call police.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 35 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall with light-colored eyes and weighing about 190 pounds. He had balding or short hair and wore a baseball cap, dark-colored button-up shirt and dark pants. Anyone with information should call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 720-913-STOP (7867). There could be a $2,000 reward.
