Expenses for Aspen’s stage of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge bike race exceeded revenues by $15,701, the Aspen Daily News reports.
The overrun will be covered by the city of Aspen, which had previously committed $60,000 in special event “stimulus” funds. The final bill to the city is $75,701.
The race ran from Aug. 22 through Aug. 28 and sped through Aspen on the 24th during its second of six stages.
The Aspen City Council initially approved a budget of $189,000 for the event, but the figure dropped when the Aspen Chamber Resort Association added its own $50,000 contribution.
