Morrison police late Saturday surrounded an Indian Hills home after a driver who struck a police car fled into the residence.

A police officer pulled the man over on U.S. 285 for suspected speeding about 7:40 p.m., but the driver fled. The officer gave chase until the man pulled into a private drive off Parmalee Gulch Road. The man turned his vehicle around in the driveway and drove toward the officers.

“One of the officers had to dive out of the way to avoid being hit,” police Sgt. Robert Payne said.

Payne said the man then fled to a home on Ute Road, just off Parmalee Gulch Road. As of 9:40 p.m., officers were still surrounding the home.

Police believe the man was the only person in the house.
