A Denver woman was taken to a local hospital this weekend after becoming ill because of exposure to carbon monoxide.
The victim, a senior, called a neighbor to complain that she wasn’t feeling well, said Lt. Phil Champagne, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.
At about 8 a.m. Sunday firefighters went to the home, in the 1600 block of Albion Street, and found dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, Champagne said.
The house had an “old furnace,” Champagne said, and there was no carbon monoxide detector in the residence.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, further details on her condition were not available.
Firefighters used fans to clear out the home of the carbon monoxide buildup.
