FORT COLLINS — A woman accused of fatally stabbing her ex-boyfriend in the neck with a broken beer bottle told police she attacked him because he broke her cellphone as they fought at a bar, KMGH-Channel 7 reported Tuesday, quoting the arrest affidavit.
Shaun Cassidy, 23, died Sunday, one week after he was stabbed.
The woman told police that Cassidy followed her home, and when she let him in after he began banging on her door, they were “pushing and choking each other,” the affidavit said. Prosecutors told The Coloradoan newspaper that they are reviewing whether the state’s “Make My Day” self-defense law applies because the attack was in the woman’s home.
