The Great Indoors is shuttering its Broomfield store in a move that will not only darken one of the largest retail spaces in the FlatIron District, but also potentially turn the FlatIron Marketplace shopping center’s vacancy woes into a nightmare.
A liquidation sale is expected to start Friday at The Great Indoors’ nearly 155,000-square-foot store off U.S. 36, said Kimberly Freely, a spokeswoman for parent company Sears Holdings Corp. The local store is expected to close in mid-December and vacate its space by the end of the year, she said Thursday.
Freely declined to provide the specific reasons for the closure of the 58-employee store, adding Sears Holdings’ normal course of business is to evaluate its retailers on a store-by-store basis.
