COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs police are urging Wall Street protesters to get permits allowing them to set up tents to store their supplies as long as they don’t sleep in them.

Police say if the protesters don’t comply or the permits aren’t approved, the tents will have to be taken down.

They said Monday the tents can stay until protesters can apply for the permits. Several people who have not complied have been given written warnings, and one person was arrested early Tuesday.

At Denver’s Civic Center Park, protesters slept on sidewalks to avoid no-overnight-camping rules in parks.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock met with the protesters Tuesday, and both sides say they agreed to keep the lines of communication open.

There have been 47 arrests in Denver since Friday.
