Arvada police said today Jacob Rocke, 26, and Carmen Lopez, 22, both will face felony robbery and menacing charges in connection with holdups at two Arvada Starbucks locations last week.

The robberies happened Friday night, which happened to be Lopez’s birthday. The couple was arrested the next morning in a Lakewood hotel because a witness “gave police vital information leading to the early morning arrests,” Arvada police said Saturday.

The charges allege they stole more than $1,000 from the coffee shops. Each is being held on $10,000 bond each.

Witnesses told police a man wearing a ski mask pointed a gun at barristas and demanded cash. No one was hurt in either robbery.

The first holdup happened just after 7 p.m. at the coffee shop at 6600 Wadsworth Blvd. Another followed at 8:45 p.m. at the Starbucks at 8071 Wadsworth Blvd.

Records show Rocke has been arrested numerous times.

He is serving 12 months probation after pleading guilty last November to menacing, assault and cultivating marijuana in Commerce City.

He also is free on bond awaiting a hearing next month in a marijuana possession case in Denver. He was arrested in April.

Lopez has no previous arrests, court records show.
