COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—A team from Adams County is investigating the killing of a man reportedly armed with knife who was shot by a Commerce City police officer.

The Denver Post reports ( ) Commerce City police say the officer shot and killed 31-year-old Nathan Done Friday.

Police say officers found Done outside a home where a woman reported she had been attacked the night before. The woman told police Done left the house with a butcher knife.

Done led police on a short chase and returned to the home, where an officer shot him after hearing loud voices and a woman screaming inside.

The officer’s name has not been released and is on paid administrative leave, as is usual in police shootings. The Adams County Critical Incident team is conducting the investigation.
