John Moore, the Denver Post’s theater critic for a decade, has been named one of the 12 most influential theater critics by American Theatre magazine, in part for the multimedia innovations he has implemented at .
Moore, who returned to The Denver Post in 1993 as a an assistant sports editor, was cited for his ability to cover the news related to more than 100 active theater companies in Denver, and to provide clear-eyed criticism of their productions.
As the size of the printed newspaper has contracted, Moore has expanded his online coverage beyond comprehensive listings to include other elements where fans can keep current, including: the Running Lines blog for breaking news; Standing O, a website dedicated to high-school theater; the New Play Sampling Series, where five- to 10-page excerpts of new plays being performed in the area are posted; and a 24/7 photo gallery, which includes a production shot from every currently running production.
