Axl Rose or Santa Claus — who are you more excited about seeing in December? That’s right, Guns N’ Roses will play the 1stBank Center in Broomfield on Dec. 11. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today. The legendary, if unsteady, band hasn’t been known for its togetherness in the past couple of decades. It took Rose nearly 20 years to release the proper follow-up to the two “Use Your Illusion” albums — 2008’s curious “Chinese Democracy,” the “Smile” of modern pop-metal. Still, we’re already looking forward to the show — to seeing Axl circa 2011, nearly 25 years after he first completely owned us via 1987’s still-excellent “Appetite for Destruction.” ($49.50-$79.50, )
Widespread Panic playing a fully acoustic tour? It has never happened before. The newly announced Wood Tour is a mini-outing for the veteran jam band that will have it playing six Colorado dates in two intimate venues over 10 days. The Wood Tour will play three nights at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Feb. 10-12, and another couple of nights at the Belly Up in Aspen, on Feb. 17-19. Tickets to the Colorado shows will go on sale on Nov. 4 (Aspen) and Nov. 18 (Denver). And watch out for those Aspen tickets. The venue is already advertising them at $350-$500 apiece!
Brian Regan is one of the most successful stand-ups in the game. And that’s why he’ll be headlining the large-and-in-charge Wells Fargo Theatre on Feb. 25. Tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m. ($39.75-$49.75, )
Wilco is touring behind its excellent eighth record, “The Whole Love” (see our review at ). The Chicago act headlines the Fillmore Auditorium on Jan. 19. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($43, )
The Jayhawks haven’t released a record with both founding members Gary Louis and Mark Olsen since 1995 — until last month’s “Mockingbird Time.” The band will support the new record Jan. 27 at the Ogden Theatre. Tickets on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($29.50, )
