For the record: Army improved to 3-5 with a 55-0 victory over Fordham at West Point on Saturday. The Black Knights haven’t won on the road this season. Their other victories have come over Northwestern, 21-14, and Tulane, 45-6, in Michie Stadium.
Streaking: Army quarterback Trent Steelman has rushed for 11 touchdowns and leads the Black Knights in scoring with 68 points.
Who’s hot: Halfback Raymond Maples is the backbone of Army’s strong rushing game. He has 759 yards for the season and is averaging 7.3 yards a carry running out of the triple-option attack.
Who’s not: Army’s passing is as bad as any team in the country, simply because they choose not to pass unless they must. The Black Knights have 23 completions in 54 attempts for 397 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Key stat: The Black Knights have lost 15 fumbles. However, they still have a 34:23-25:37 advantage in possession time.
FYI: Army’s rushing game has piled up more than double the yards of its opponents. The Black Knights have rushed for 2,952 yards.
