A pair of Boulder cousins hired to cut weeds for the city were peeping in a woman’s window while on the clock in the University Hill neighborhood last month.

Lee Gould, 33, and Travis Gould, 32, both of Firestone, face misdemeanor “peeping Tom” charges in the Oct. 5 incident in the 1000 block of 11th Street, a few blocks west of the University of Colorado campus.

The woman told police she caught the pair in the act at about 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 5. Their city truck was parked outside.

Public records show the cousins were arrested Monday and freed on $500 bond.

They are still employed with the city of Boulder’s transportation maintenance workgroup, according to a press release from the Boulder public works department today.

The delay between the alleged peeping and their arrest was not explained.

“To ensure fairness for all concerned, the city does not comment on pending personnel investigations or disciplinary proceedings.”

City Manager Jane Brautigam, however, commented in the same release.

“While the city understands that prosecution has not yet occurred, and that the law presumes everyone innocent unless proven guilty, allegations against city employees are of great concern,” she stated. “The city prides itself on being good stewards of taxpayer money, and I expect our employees to serve as organizational ambassadors to the community. The alleged conduct is not representative of the city organization or of the individuals the city is proud to employ.”

The charge against the Goulds is a class 2 misdemeanor, which carries a sentence of up to a year in jail and a fine up to $1,000.

Lee Gould pleaded guilty to reckless driving in Weld County in 2008, after initially being charged with driving while abilities impaired, court records show.
