LAS VEGAS—Federal marshals have been ordered to seize almost $64,000 in assets from a Las Vegas company fighting alleged copyright violations in news stories from The Denver Post and Las Vegas Review-Journal.

It wasn’t clear Wednesday if U.S. marshals carried out a U.S. District Court order issued Tuesday on behalf of Kentucky message board poster Wayne Hoehn.

Righthaven chief Steve Gibson couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

The Las Vegas Sun reports ( ) that Hoehn won legal fees and interest following dismissal of a lawsuit alleging he improperly posted a Review-Journal column.

Righthaven since March 2010 has filed 275 copyright infringement lawsuits.

Three suits have been thrown out on fair use grounds and five judges in Nevada and Colorado have ruled Righthaven didn’t control the newspaper copyrights it claimed to own.
