AURORA, Colo.—Aurora police have arrested the mother of two children who died after a house fire over the weekend.
Police said 23-year-old Danielle Lynn Brockman was being held Wednesday on $500,000 bond for investigation of two felony counts of child abuse or negligence resulting in death.
Police say 2-year-old Alivia Ramirez and her 3-year-old brother, Timothy Joseph Ramirez, were home alone when the fire broke out early Sunday. When firefighters arrived at the scene, a woman told them two children were trapped inside. Officers had to remove iron security bars over the windows to reach the children.
Timothy died Sunday, and Alivia died Tuesday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. An arrest warrant in the case has been sealed.
